Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions for Psychotherapy Services

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions outline the working agreement between you (the client) and Damio Whall, a UKCP-registered psychotherapist, and are designed to ensure clarity and mutual understanding. Engaging in psychotherapy with me implies your agreement to the following terms.

2. Ethical Standards

I am a registered member (09160947) of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and abide by its Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct. You can view the full UKCP ethical framework at: https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/ukcp-code-of-ethics-and-professional-practice/

3. Confidentiality

All sessions are treated with strict confidentiality. This means that the content of our conversations will not be shared with anyone outside the therapeutic setting without your explicit consent.

4. Limits to Confidentiality

There are certain legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality. Disclosure may occur:

  • If I believe you are at serious risk of harming yourself or someone else.
  • If there is a threat to life or evidence of serious harm or abuse, particularly involving a child or vulnerable adult.
  • If required by law (e.g., in compliance with a court order or serious criminal activity).

Where possible, I will always attempt to discuss this with you before breaking confidentiality, unless doing so would increase the level of risk.

5. Session Details

  • Sessions last for 50 minutes and take place weekly, fortnightly, monthly or bespoke unless otherwise agreed.
  • Cancellations require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to avoid being charged in full.
  • Missed sessions without notice will be charged at the full session rate which has been mutually agreed.

6. Payment

Fees will be agreed prior to the commencement of therapy. Payment is to be made via bank transfer; or cash and is due on the day of the session.

7. Ending Therapy

You may end therapy at any time. Ideally, this should be discussed in advance, and we will use the final sessions to reflect and bring closure to our work.

8. Record Keeping

Basic notes are kept securely and in compliance with GDPR regulations. These notes are anonymised and used solely to support the therapeutic process.

9. Contact Outside Sessions

Contact between sessions should be limited to practical arrangements. In case of an emergency, please contact your GP or emergency services, as I do not offer a crisis service.
